Peter – Your PowerDVD Guide

Hello Friend,

What makes PowerDVD 9.0 a mile ahead of your ordinary movie player on a PC?

The director of Business and Development of Cyberlink, Tom Vaughan has recently been interviewed about the latest Cyberlink’s wonder, PowerDVD 9.0.

He sure couldn’t hide his excitement about the new hot features in PowerDVD 9.0 which include things like….

Split Screen – TrueTheatre HD and Regular DVD

trutheatreOne thing I that I like was when he said about the SplitScreen feature, “[Pointing at his laptop screen] Right side is enhanced with the TrueTheater HD enhancement technology. On the left hand side we see what a regular DVD looks like normally and on the right, we’ve enhanced it with our TrueTheater HD Enhancement Technology. So if I play, the brightness, the color and contrast are adjusted. The motion is smoothed out. On the left, you’ll see this motion judder that happens when you play movies.

Blu-ray Quality from Ordinary DVDs

With my ordinary DVD discs, I’m able to watch movies in Blu-ray-like quality on PowerDVD 9.0. It indeed looked way more clear and everything on the movie are seen detail by detail.

Minimal Power Usage

Tom also mentioned about the power of optimization capabilities. For example you’re on a plane and watching your favorite flick, you don’t need to worry about your laptop quickly losing its battery. Unlike other DVD suites, PowerDVD has been designed to a minimal use of power usage and CPU usage and yet can maximize the video processing for a better quality movie-viewing and satisfaction for being able to finish the movie just before the plane lands.

MoovieLive Share and Access Movie Ratings with the World

movieliveBut the coolest thing I love about PowerDVD that Tom Vaughan showed is about the MoovieLive, “we have a web service that comes in PowerDVD, and that’s called Moovie Live and that lets you share your movie ratings or access movie ratings from other users. It logs in to Moovie Live, and then we also have a way for you to look at your movie collection. So all the movies you’ve watched, you can add to your movie collection. And through their web service, you can access different meta data information about the movies, the category, the genre it’s on. And then you can go to the 3D view and browse through your movie collection this way.
